Travel Operations Specialist

POSITION: TRAVEL OPERATIONS SPECIALIST
REPORTING TO: VICE PRESIDENT TRAVEL OPERATIONS
OFFICE LOCATION: HOMEWORKER

Due to the successful growth of our business and our philosophy around continuous improvement, a
position has become available for a highly competent Fares and ticketing specialist to join the Travel
Operations team covering West Coast hours.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Check and process ticket re-issues and fare calculations for US offices
Manually build fare constructions such as RTW fares or when itineraries do not auto price
Answer internal ticketing queries by phone, email, and task management
Assist Corporate Travel Consultants with understanding of fare rules and restrictions
Full ownership of International fares/product portfolio, delivering optimised point of sale
solutions
Ensure International Fares knowledge is always current and relevant with a proactive sharing
approach with other team members and the wider business
Ongoing identification of additional related products in the market and to provide feedback to
Commercial and Product related functions

SKILL & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 8+ years working in the travel industry
  • 8+ years International Fares and Ticketing experience with extensive knowledge of the USA market
  • High level of commercial acumen with the ability to make snap decisions under pressure
  • A robust analytical skill set, with a penchant for complex problem solving and thinking outside the box
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the confidence and ability to always communicate effectively and professionally taking into consideration any potential commercial sensitivities that may exist
  • Time management and self-management skills and demonstrable consistency in meeting agreed deadlines / timeframes in a pressurised environment
  • A team player with experience of working in Internationally based teams
  • An independent thinker with the proven ability to work on your own initiative without the need for significant supervision
  • Proficient knowledge of ARC airfare construction
  • Accurately Issuing and exchanging of ARC USA/BSP CA/UK, EMEA, APAC tickets
  • Knowledge of US Ticketing & Commission contracts A good working knowledge of the GDS native Sabre
  • Quality control across all aspects of our procedures and processes

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Willing to travel for team meetings up to 3 times a year
